Chris was born in Bristol in May 1969. As far as he can remember he has always been interested in art.
Chris successfully completed an arts foundation course in 1990 and furthered his education gaining an HNC and advanced diploma in graphic design. Professional qualifications of the society of typographic designers and diploma member of the chartered society of designers.
Since completing his studies in 1992 he was employed in a variety of jobs, although he still had time to be commissioned for graphic design and sign writing. In 1995 he was employed with other artists to design and paint murals for children’s playrooms, and was commissioned to produce murals in Spain.
In 2000 he exhibited his aviation art at the Carrisbrooke gallery, London, with The Guild of Aviation Artists. His work was chosen out of many artists to be highly commended. It was an honour for him to exhibit his work alongside prolific artists including Gerald Coulson, David Shephard and Keith Woodcock.
Chris starts each day arranging his own photographic reference for his paintings. He sometimes ventures out into the West country where he lives, taking photographs of the countryside. Some of his ideas for his landscapes come direct from his imagination.
Chris’s preferred medium is oils working from a primed panel. He paints thin layers of paint to create vibrancy and depth to his work. He is influenced by the ever changing sky, from summer days to moody storms. The sky conveys to Him a sense of escapism and tranquillity.
